Question: can i use the virgin lounge? i tried buying a pass online but it says i have to be a velocity member to buy a pass, and to be a velocity member i need to have an australian address. Will they just let a non-member walk up and buy a single-use pass? i could sure use some free internet and snacks while waiting.

Thanks
You could just enroll into velocity with any address really. Your hotel or something.

Otherwise, MEL is actually quite a nice airport to spend some time. Maybe you can also buy a pre-paid wireless modem USB stick (or if you have one an Australian SIM card) and get mobile broadband for the rest of your trip as well.
