If a room has 2 beds, 4 people may stay. A fifth person may stay but a 10.00 charge will usually be assessed. This 10.00 charge is either for a rollaway bed or a person charge. It's usually one or the other.
This policy is not universal. every hotel is different. This is our policy.
This is certainly not the practise in most European hotels. Many times even if the room would have sufficient space for an extra bed you can not even add a third person to the room due to fire regulations. Happend to me many times before when I traveled with friends.
