I went in 1998 with some friends (thanks to a BA sale ^) so that we could do Kai Tak "one last time".

There was one guy who hadn't done it before. After the landing he said "you lot weren't joking!"

Actually I remember being at an event in Vancouver and describing the old Hong Kong approach to some colleagues when an American said "I hope you don't mind me eavesdropping but are you talking about Kai Tak?". He then told us that he was a pilot for the US military and flew it many times. Apparently some of the elite special forces had some interesting reactions!
