As far as them taking her passport out of commission is concerned, they will give her a piece of paper that will allow her to move freely around China (planes, trains, and hotels), for whatever that's worth.
Thanks for the reply. I assume that Beijing won't be issuing a residency permit for a Jilin inivitation, though. I guess I'll jet up there and have a chat with the local authorities and see what they say
I know about the "piece of paper", but we're screwed (pardon), since there's travel to Japan coming up...
