I am interested in confirming the information I read elsewhere that the kindle store can be accessed on the 3g network in new zealand but not the kindle web browser feature. (I was thinking of using the kindle web feature to access gmail while there, and leave the netbook at home.)
Both the Kindle store and the (experimental) Kindle web browser "worked" earlier this year in NZ with a Kindle3 3g. The Kindle store was fine. However while the web browser eventually could access sites like Yahoo, FT, Yahoo mail and gmail, it was just too painfully slow to really use. Browser use also caused the Kindle to crash fairly often.
