One of your options would have been to DHL your passport and application (downloaded from UK visa centre site) over to the UK for processing, then have it DHL'd back to Oslo. It would have been a lot more expensive but you possibly could have gotten a 2 x 30 day double-entry L visa. Maybe 2 x 60 days. Still not many people in UK are getting multiple entry visas unless they've got some sort of previous pattern or organizational support attesting to the need. Something to keep in mind for the future--since you only needed 10 days, just dealing with it in Oslo seems like the best course. At some point in the future, the Chinese will, without fanfare, revert back to the usual 30-day standard in Oslo.
