I would be pretty comfortable doing this. There are two UX areas. Mostly Skywest flights use terminal 8 which can be walked in 3 minutes end-to-end. Further, the GAs work one flight at a time, with one flight boarding through each door, usually with a jetbridge to the plane. As UX GAs go, they're attentive and helpful.

Other flights use gate 71(?), which is maybe a 5 minute walk from terminal 8. It does board multiple flights through the same door (is there a bus?). I have never gone through here, but it is far less of a zoo than IAD A terminal, F gates at ORD, etc., and the agents don't look they're constantly overwhelmed so there's someone he can ask if he has a question.
