Should I be able to use the web browser on my kindle 3g intl version purchased in us when I am in New Zealand?

I am interested in confirming the information I read elsewhere that the kindle store can be accessed on the 3g network in new zealand but not the kindle web browser feature. (I was thinking of using the kindle web feature to access gmail while there, and leave the netbook at home.)
