I remember visiting Israel and they found a Norwegian stamp in my passport to which they took an exception. Interestingly it wasn't picked up on entry, but I suffered a three hour "interview" on trying to leave. Luckily the aircraft was late otherwise I might not have made it.
It wasn't explained to me what they objected to, simply that as an "experienced" traveller I was more likely to be aware of "wrinkles" and be able to take advantage of them.
Say what now? Good reminder never to visit the place...
