If the pilots do vote in favour, then there is still no guarantee a strike will go ahead - it's usually a sign for more negotiations to occur.
The seven days grace in advance of any strike does actually mean VS will have more time to sort out options and announce a commercial policy. It's unlikely that VS will just cancel your award tickets - I'm not sure EU comp allows them to do it because it will be within the magic 7 day cut off limit for a flight cancellation where the pax gets a lot more choice.
I do have to say, with a flight so long after the closing of the ballot, I would be really surprised if your flight is affected.
Yeah I'm sure VS will try something akin to the WW plan at BA and try to get pax to their destination by any means, re-booking, wet-leases etc. Although we might not see any Virgin Volunteer Pilots (VVP) to match the Volunteer Cabin Crew (VCC) on BA.
