I had earlier issued a Z8-Z3 award on AC from HKG-YVR in J.

I am thinking of going to the DXB DO and will now depart DXB-x/BKK-x/HKG-YVR. As the mileage is exactly the same (Z5 to Z3) as Z8-Z3, I asked ICC to add on the TG sectors. DXB-BKK on 26 June, BKK-HKG-YVR on 27 June.

First they said it cannot be done as its different miles but then they realised that it is the same. Then they said that as its different zones I need a new ticket from Z5-Z8. But as it defies logic as its the same number of miles and I'm not stopping in HKG but connecting through.. so she said that they need to cancel the ticket and refund it so that I may make a new booking. But I told her don't cancel the AC portion as there are no seats for the day I want to travel. ICC said no, I need to cancel the reservation otherwise they cannot refund the ticket. Then she puts me on hold .... and then the music cut off so I figured that she has cut me off.

I'll wait till tomorrow before I try again.

What do you guys think? Can this be done without axing the AC flight which in this case I will be SOL.
