AA didn't put much effort into this contest or promotion. I'm also glad to see an FT'er win, even if it wasn't me.
I suppose that AA doesn't have as much marginal revenue to get out of those of us who already fly frequently, but there's a lot more ma & pa's that want to take the kids on vacation that they can get to... and that's who they were trying to attract.
Depending on what, if anything, happens with MM status, I may seriously consider using EXP only to get a status match to 1K just to have the option of moving to United should either airline get serious about actually providing top-tier services to top-tier elites. The european airlines do a MUCH better job of this.
