The Netherland Hilton is a landmark hotel, great location, river view rooms possible, interesting art deco decor, busy Palm court bar, and they are good to Hilton Golds, but it's glory needs refreshing. I found a used hypodermic needle in a ladies room stall there. The Westin rooms would be better. There's a suite hotel that used to be an apartment house, The Garfield, but I haven't stayed there recently enough to know what the present condition of the rooms. At night it is hard to find anything open in downtown Cincinnati close to those hotels in the way of a little market, pharmacy, coffee shop eatery or pizza joint. The front desk at the Hilton couldn't come up with anything. If you want a local restaurant that's very good but not fancy for a satisfying meal, drive a few blocks to Washington Platform. However, unless a person just needs to be Downtown, the Embassy Suites, Marriot, and others
just across the river in Covington, KY are newer and it's super easy to get to downtown Cinci from there. When you know how little vibe downtown has at night unless there's a ballgame or festival, and knowing the Cinci airport is on the Kentucky side, you understand why the Covington/Newport hotels along the river are popular.
