It depends on what hidden charges the LCC loads its highly attractive fare with as you book

As an example I was pricing up a London Amsterdam return and comparing Easyjet (LCC) with British Airways. Both flights were from London Gatwick to Schiphol on the same date and at roughly the same time of day

BA's fare - including 1 pce of checked luggage (23kg) and in flight refreshments and a pre booked seat -£99 return plus a £3.50 card charge Total £102.50.

Easyjet £37.99 out £42.99 back = £75.98 so far so good... then add on
1 pc hold baggage (20kg) £14
Credit card charge - £5
Soda and packet of chip/ nuts in flight - £4.50
Total £104.48

And I don't know if its just my bad luck - but I have been on more delayed LCC flights than I have with scheduled airlines. The HCCs seem to get priority in the queues if there is a delay - and they also have airbridges for boarding rather than needing to walk to the stairs across the apron - or being bussed halfway round the airport (at Gatwick).

Also - last time I flew Easyjet, with my hold baggage I had my online check in boarding group A BP ripped up and changed to a group C one....
