Yeah, that was me. I guess I shouldn't generalize so much. It depends on the circumstances.

Using points for a short-haul like YYZ-LGA or YYZ-BOS doesn't seem like a waste of points if it saves you $1000+. But, personally, I've never claimed a short-haul.
