I suppose you're sending a message to one of the 'internal' CX email addresses. I had problems previously with Windows Live Mail too when sending messages to the these types of emails (the error given was that the email address is not valid without any possibility to override it), and I reported this issue to them, but they just replied saying that it's quite rare for emails to include pound keys and they'll 'send it to their Product Development Team for consideration'. Use Yahoo! Mail or Gmail - it works with them.
