I wonder how CO elites would feel if the change had been to deny all but their super elite members the use of the carpet... (one could then have a disagreement on whether that would be a reduction in benefits, too).
I think it's fine to argue whether the changes are an important reduction in benefits. Different things matter to different folks. I am certainly not looking forward to have my 1K security line access extended to the hords of other UA elites at SFO. How's standing in line longer not a reduction in benefits? Last week at MCO the "all elites + F" check-in line was longer than the regular line... and staffed with fewer agents, it seemed.
