Yes, I thought of using a caribiner, but I have always preferred a more robust loop for a water bottle. When hanging from a caribiner, a heavy watter bottle will swing and sway too much for my taste. This bag will either be hanging from my rolling carry-on or around my waist while I'm walking through the terminal, so I don't want the water bottle to swing around much.
