I am trying to find information for a friend who needs to hire a car for about six weeks this upcoming June and July from either CPT, Cape Town itself or even Stellenbosch. Cheapest so far seems around the R7,300 mark for a tiny little Kia something.

Does anybody have experience with this? Are there (reputable) options besides the big car rental companies such as Avis and Hertz? Are there alternate schemes available, such as "borrowing" someone's car?

Any help would be appreciated!! Ideally, he wants to spend max around €500, although I think that is probably a pipe dream.
