Depends on what you prefer most...when staying at the Ren as a Plat (and even Gold) you are almost guaranteed a Suite since they have so many. However the Renaissance is really old in terms of rooms and public areas (and in fact closing on 9/30) and has no air conditioning - depending on the weather it can become pretty hot in their rooms, and their only workaround is to provide fans.

The Courtyard on the other hand is very modern, has Flat-Screen TVs, A/C and decent bedding, but getting an upgrade is a gamble - I stay there every week since January and am upgraded to one of their studio-rooms (that come with free mini-bar) about once each month. Breakfast is free for Platinums and decent enough if you ask me. Location is very good for touristy things, you can walk everywhere within the city-center. No real negatives except the upgrade situation...
