Simple solution, just don't have already planned on missing the flight. make the flight and you have no problems. You'll travel with your bags and be all set.

Complicated solution: do what you're doing now (which sounds like you're planning on a flat tire), miss the flight, and fall at Alaska's mercy for getting rebooked. Could be subject to change fees or other costs. Not saying it's likely, but it is possible.
