You should be able to since it's self-downgrading. However, if the car in EA is significantly upgraded (eg Premium or higher), the checkout clerk may give you a hard time. In that case say that you are self-downgrading since EA only requires an intermediate reservation and ask them to contact a manager. I've had this problem (similar) with a Premium reservation when I took a Luxury from the Executive Selection (I'm Executive).
