I won't fly KLM. Still haven't forgiven them for a flight about 15 years ago, AMS to JFK.
The plane was a 747 Combi. The cargo section was occupied by racehorses, whose sedation wore off mid-Atlantic. Those horses were banging about so much that they caused the entire plane to rock, worse than bad turbulence. It sounded as though they were doing some damage.
Crew members kept rushing back into the cargo section, to see if they could help calm the horses (or to try and get the handlers to calm them). No good. We had a most uncomfortable (and quite frightening) few hours, and were relieved to land safely at JFK.
I understand that racehorses now fly on special charters, but no way am I flying KLM again - agree that I'm irrational about that!
