I won't fly US because their frontline employees in PHL are so rude, but that might be too "normal" for this thread.

I won't fly BA because on one flight about ten years ago, a FA literally stood in the aisle screaming at me for 5 minutes as if I were a child who couldn't understand English, for the offense of switching on my cell phone for 30 seconds to change the time zone so it would be synched with my destination. Yes, I was wrong and I shouldn't have done it. But his response was so over the top -- there were other passengers turning around to see what all the fuss was about. Then he walked away (disappeared into F) and came back and started up all over again. To top it off, the phone was already off before he started yelling at me. He wasn't yelling at me to turn it off, he was berating me for having done it after the fact. I finally said very calmly, "I understand English and I am not 5 years old, you can stop yelling now." Then he went away and ANOTHER FA came back and gave me the same speech (albeit much more calmly). I stopped him midstream and said, "I understand, I won't do it again, you can stop now."

Left such a bad taste in my mouth I have not flown BA since and I refuse to do so. I know it's irrational, I know it was just one guy who flipped his lid (after I did something I shouldn't have done), and I don't care. That's no way to treat a customer. Ever. A simple, discreet, "I'm sorry ma'am, it's against regulations to turn on a cell phone in flight, do you understand?" With me replying, "Yes, I'm sorry I won't do it again" would have sufficed.

At the time, I didn't even know you couldn't even switch them on, I thought you just weren't allowed to use them to make phone calls.
