Perhaps the stockholders are happy taking a long-term view of their investment. In which case the CEO would not have "got it wrong."

Therefore as another poster mentioned for the "right price" it probably won't remain independent. IMHO if I were American I'd tender an offer they could not refuse and beef up my domestic flight plan especially Hawaii. Instant way for AA to moth both those 250+ MD80's by getting Alaska's fleet.
Could you please explain just how AMR would be able to fund that wonderful offer to purchase ALK? You do realize that the market cap for ALK is greater than that of AMR, right?
