I stayed here in early 2003 shortly after they re-opened as a Marriott. (The property is the old Dunphy hotel, which had been empty for a number of years).

I was impressed first by the makeover. I had stayed at the Dunphy a few times in the '80s and it was good full-service hotel. But the re-flagged version as a Marriott topped it in every regard.

Then there's the matter of service. To be honest, given that the hotel had just re-opened, the staff hadn't fully gotten its act together, but the spirit was there. We were given an upgrade to a junior suite and a couple of special requests were quickly and cheerfully honored.

I realize it's been a while, but based on my experience and subsequent comments, I'd still not hesitate to recommend this property.
