Reward bookings open 355 days before departure, and are popular - even more so now because of the free miles given away by Chase/BA. The most award seats are available where there are frequent flights between the two cities (for instance, currently there is plenty of availability between NYC and London in September)

The amount of miles needed for reward flights are standard throughout the year. The last miles "sale" was in 2008 and was considered to be a one-off. That info is in the sticky at the top of the board.
