NZ has pod-type seating (in fact, AC's seats are based off a similar design). The last time my wife and I flew NZ, we got seats right in the nose of the 747 so we could at least look at each other. The advantage of the NZ seats is that there is a guest seat / footrest in the pod so we could actually share a meal on the same table (does AC have the same?).

For side-by-side trips, UA's new seats are the UK are probably among the best for couples, and LX's new seats are not bad in this regard either.
