I just wanted to come back and update this thread... I did realize one "work around" with Bigcrumbs and other programs. I bought a $1000 Supercertificate from Giftcertificates.com - 2.4% cash back, so I'll get $24 back. Not a lot, but it's something. With that, I used $300 of it to get $50 Hyatt gift cards, which I'll use on my stays. I'll still book through Hyatt and get my stay credit and points, but now I can use the gift cards when I check out.

I should have stocked up on the Costco gift cards last year when I had the chance.
