I have had very positive experiences flying with babies in the same cabin. I admit I generally wince when I see babies boarded, but on the whole, they have been remarkably calm. I've had greater challenges with children old enough to race around the cabin going between parents and siblings, but even that has only been a handful of times.
If they are young enough for the bassinets, then they generally only cry a little bit, usually after the point of descent. Most times, they are also cute and cuddly, and the parents wouldn't mind other pax having a little bit of interaction with their little treasures.
The problem starts when the kids are a little bigger, who will cry more, and run around the cabin for 12 hours like they were training for a marathon, and squeal on average once every half hour.
