You can check how many seats is LH willing to sell (for example using flightstats.com, which is free). LH does not usually over-sell first. FWIW, LH413 EWR-MUC this Saturday is F2A2J4C3D0Z0, so there should be two seats in first available.

PS: you could consider looking in CouponConnection for someone in the EWR area with a UA paper SWU to exchange for a continental SWU.
