I'm getting married in Cancun, Mexico later in the year and we're planning on flying with BA.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with flying with BA to your wedding?
I'm mainly concerned in finding out whether they're less strict on the total weight of your bags or the number of bags, since we'll be travelling with suits and the wedding dress and other bits/pieces.
The other question which I guess gets asked a lot is how likely it is to get a complimentary upgrade? Is it more likely if you fly on a specific fare or does it not happen at all?

Thanks!
Hello!

Welcome to FT!

You will be able to take your wedding dress onboard with you if you prefer, in a dress carrier. On the 777, they will be able to find somewhere for it.

I am afraid, I doubt there will be any waiving of additional baggage fees. Although, if you do it online before you go to the airport, you will get it cheaper than at the airport.

The upgrade question. I highly doubt that you would be able to get a complimentary upgrade. There are strict rules that both ground staff and crew have to work to and unfortunately, upgrading for wedding is not something that we would be able to upgrade for, in fact, there is hardly any reason that we can upgrade people for. Routes which are popular with couples, honeymoons and the likes are often rather over subscribed on the wanting an upgrade for a special occasion.

Hopefully others will answer any more questions you have.
