To clarify, T1 has two concourses, each with its own security area. The WN area has one MMW. The other has at least one MMW. (I'd PM an update but I don't recall exactly how many there are)...
In the WN checkpoint, the MMW is very prominently displayed right in the middle. You can attempt to choose an alternate lane but it's possible they may pull from any lane.
If you really want to avoid, fly UA, CO (entering from the UA checkpoint), AA, or VX from T2 or T3. Those checkpoints have no scanners at all (for now).
THank you for the detailed response. that was my other question, whether or not there was another checkpoint without the MMW, but I guess not. I'm already booked on WN, since it is a reward flight and is free. I guess we'll have to take our chances and get groped if it comes down to it.
