Nice trip report terenz. Welcome to Silver Preferred (your LGW trip with double miles got you there quickly). I'm assuming that no upgrades were available on your transcontinental run -first in the 319s and 320s is quite nice - better than on the '37s and '57s. The only problem with being merely silver is the 24 hr. upgrade window on restricted fares - but I've been lucky and always cleared an upgrade at check in on transcon flights.
