From what I can gather from reading these forums and others, the only difference is we have a credit limit whereas most signature cards do not. So, while they probably no longer have a platinum card they do have the British Airways/Chase Visa card, with the exact same benefits. Of course we didn't think to ask why we didn't get the signature card until after we hung up, technically with this card it's only 50,000 miles because there's no way we can spend $2500 in 3 months to get the additional 50k (credit limit set below that). Writing that out made me realize we should call back and ask for a raise in the credit limit so we can get the entire offer.

The terms and conditions stated that an applicant would first be considered for the signature card and if found unqualified would be offered the platinum card. Some have found that having other Chase credit cards or two many outstanding cards and credit lines seemed to influence this decision.
1. You will first be considered for a Visa Signature card. If you do not qualify for that product, you will automatically be considered for a Visa Platinum card, which has different fees, benefits, and credit availability. For pricing details, please see Pricing & Terms. For benefits details, please read your credit card benefits materials which will be mailed after your account is established.
