Why would there be a problem with asking the pax if they mind being videotaped? I don't know legal issues (although I assume that in a public place I have little expectation of privacy and at a checkpoint I have no right to privacy). I believe 'no expectation of privacy' in public places does stop short at things like peeper cameras looking up women's skirts.
I don't care who videotapes me at the checkpoint (whether I'm working there or passing through as a pax). I have nothing to hide and if he/she is doing her job properly, neither does the TSO.
