I think the supervisor acted correctly. If you're traveling with Uncle Frank who is getting patted down, it's between you and Uncle Frank whether or not it's appropriate to video the pat-down. I think the supervisor did the right thing to ask the person to stop videoing. I think the supervisor should have also had the LEO escort the individual off the checkpoint immediately. But I don't know the totality of the circumstances.
I know that I'll get flailed for this. So be it. But this would apply to anyone else regardless of celebrity. If you're taking a video of someone else being patted down without their consent (e.g., it's not your Uncle Frank or Aunt Carol), then I'm going to ask you to stop. If you don't, then I'll have the LEO escort you off the checkpoint.
1) Where is that rule written? Or is that another "whim of the TSA sceener/supervisor" rule? The only guidance that's been given is that photography is permitted at the checkpoint as long as it's not interfering with the screening process.
2) On what grounds will you have someone escorted off the checkpoint?
3) Suppose the photographer is outside the checkpoint area. What then?
If TSA has nothing to hide it shouldn't object to photography at the checkpoint.
