Sorry about the delay. I was planning on finishing this during my week at Amelia Island (no trip report for that) but they didn't have an AOL number there.
Anyway, on with the trip report...
After the Philips Center tour we hopped back on the MARTA for the trip back to Hartsfield.
Now a note about the MARTA here. I thought the MARTA train system was designed to relieve the crowded Atlanta roads. At least on my southbound trip the clientle seemed like mostly people who would be riding the bus anyway if not for the trains. There were only one or two other business travelers/people going to the airport on both of the trains. Possibily the northbound line, which heads to Buckhead and other nice neighborhoods, has more of a business clientle.
After the 20 minute MARTA ride, we caught the shuttle back to the hotel. From the balcony I saw some international heavies a lit up at Terminal E. Then we crashed for the night.
The next morning, I was too tired to head into the city while my father was in his meetings, so I hung out at the hotel, which is built on the site of the original terminal.
I spent some time reading on the balcony and glacing at the planes. I won't go into detail about all the planes I "spotted".
After my father's meetings, we headed back to the airport courtesy of the shuttle. We had a 6:10p flight. We got to the airport around 4. There was a 4:10, a 4:20, and a 6:05 going out before ours (all times appx.). We sprinted down Terminal A to gate A-thiry-something (the third to last one) but were told that there were some 45 people on the standby list!
Sprinted back down Terminal A to Terminal B and gate B1. No luck there. Oh well.
The flight took off ontime and was smooth into Tampa. A full beverage service on the one-hour MD-80 flight.
Next week I'm off to Indianapolis for the FINAL FOUR. ATA roundtrip from St. Pete. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should do Saturday in Indianapolis?
