The Citi reduced mileage awards for the current quarter are listed here; that should give you an idea what the typical list looks like.

Remember that these must be booked by phone, so to save the 5K / 7.5K miles, you have to pay the $25 phone booking fee.

The SPG Amex offers SPG Gold status if you spend $30K in a year, or SPG Preferred status if you spend less.

The other advantage to the SPG card is that you aren't locked into AA miles. When it comes time to redeem, if another airline has better award availability to your destination, you can transfer there instead. Oh, and SPG points can also be used for hotels.
