You can also visit Pachacamac and Callao which are within 20 miles of Lima. Both have ruins and some beautiful sites. You can either drive if you rent a car (though traffic in Lima is crazy and the drivers are too) or you can take a bus. A cab to Callao would be totally doable and not to expensive.

And of course, the food in Lima is divine!
