Pay as You Go Broadband in France

I tried this on the Travel Tech board but only got a very limited response so hoping the good old BA Board can help.

I will be in France in July this year and I'm looking for advice on getting a PAYG SIM card for my mobile device either before we leave or once we get there. I have one of these and one of these that when combined make an excellent MiFi hotspot. Clearly I won't want to use my UK SIM as I'll come back home to a bill resembling the national debt of a small African nation.

My school French is letting me down and I can't figure out from the SFR or Orange France websites what offerings there are for PAYG and what I have deciphered seems to be for some form of contract.

Are there any of our French friends or Francophiles able to shed any light on this for me?
