They're not closing Olympia though it's getting bigger (possibly linked to the closure of Earls Court after the Olympics), and more popular - the Doctor Who show was sold out for months in advance.

If you have as I often do, especially after a trip abroad heavy bags then the the official suggestion is that from December you will get to Earls Court and then you spend an extra 20+ minutes going via West Brompton, isn't exactly great news. Currently you can just get off the HEX go down to Earls Court on the district line and then change onto the Olympia service.
