Well I could give an example; take Israeli military: the Chief of General Staff as well as other high ranking officers travel frequently to the USA, and in all pictures, are generally seen in uniform. But I'm not sure they fly CO.

After thinking about it more, I have to disagree with uastarflyer and say this is only for US military, unless the OP can prove otherwise.

military personnel...in uniform
In general, does it need to be military flying in uniform to board first?

This announcement will sound weird in CDG or LHR or SYD or PVG (I could go on). In fact, I suspect that it would cause a fair amount of hostility.
Why would it cause hostility? This is a U.S. based carrier...

Remember, CO has never really been a proper international airline.
I'm confused by this statement, both its relevance...
So what if it's never been a proper international airline. What's the connection
...and by its accuracy...
What defines a "proper international airline" then? It's based in the United States, and flies to numerous international destinations from its 2 main hubs (sorry CLE,) in Europe, Latin America, as well as Asia...
