Travelocity AMEX vs Capital One Venture card?
hi,
i've been reviewing both credit cards, and unless i'm wrong, it seems like the capital one venture card is the winner by a landslide.
as an example, $20,000 of purchases will yield you 20,000 travelocity points (redeemable for $400 travelocity credit) and 40,000 capital one miles (also redeemable for $400)
however, one of the biggest advantages of capital one over travelocity is flexibility of redemption. it appears that one can redeem 40,000 capital one miles for $400 credit towards ANY travel related charges - including cruises, shows, meals, rental cars, taxis, etc. and one can book these anywhere - on airline/hotel websites, travelocity/expedia/orbitz, priceline/hotwire, individual travel agents, etc.
the 20,000 travelocity points can only be redeemed for $400 credit towards hotels or flights only. furthermore, they can only be redeemed on travelocity.com
thus, as an example, if pleasant holidays were offering another crazy $200 trip to maui, one could pay for the entire trip using capital one miles, but would not be able to do so using travelocity points.
am i correct in my comparison's of the 2 programs? am i totally missing something, or is the capital one venture card the far superior card to have, based on it flexibility of redemption? of what benefit is it to retain a travelocity card then, instead of a capital one venture card?
any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
