Apparently the Thai authorities' website also contains the 6-month requirement, perhaps wrongly. Local carrier personnel aren't international lawyers and they process hundreds if not thousands of pax per day. If the Websites of the two countries involved are wrong, the carrier isn't wrong to treat them as correct. OP won't see any redress here unless the carrier wants to do it for CS reasons having nothing to do with their contract of carriage.
