Metro Trains out to Belgrave, Puffing Billy to the end of the line (Gembrook), there is a FANTASTIC pub across from the station.

May sound fairly touristy, but on a bleak winters day, a two-hour steam train ride will put you in the mood for a great lunch by an open fire in a traditional country pub.

Doesn't sound great, but once you have done it, you will agree it is one of the best experiences.
