QL: Since I was born in SA, I'm very interested in your perceptions and experiences. Very interesting about the Westin -- I was at a luncheon just this Wednesday past with the big guns from all Texas Westins and the big conversation was about their highly successful opening of the Westin Riverwalk. They failed to mention that they opened only a portion of it. The building used to be a bank building which was gutted and turned into the hotel.
While I'm not a fan of the Riverwalk (a little too touristy for a native) you did choose one of my favorite SA restaurants in The Little Rhine. It has been excellent every trip.
FYI: Texas isn't flat everywhere. SA is just outside the Hill Country, where we do have pretty nice rolling hills. The mountains are limited to far West Texas. The Rockies, they ain't, however!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and leave with a heaping dose of Texas Hospitality!
