Air Berlin --- annoying post-purchase credit card charges
In my many (too many) years of air travel, I've never before run into this issue before. [Apologies in advance if this is a well-articulated AB subject that I've overlooked --- if so, kindly send me a link.]
I purchased TATL Air Berlin tickets online from their site in January, 2011 for travel later this month (May, 2011), and last week I noticed an additional $2.70 USD charge posted from them to the credit card originally used for the ticket purchase. Yesterday I had occasion to call their U.S. telephone number, and during the call enquired what this additional charge was related to. After 10 or so minutes of research, the CS agent told me that it was in some way related to our seat reservations (made during the original booking) but that the charge would be reversed. Today I note that an additional $3.00 has been charged by Air Berlin to the same credit card (and no reversals have yet been posted).
The amounts in question are obviously not enough to be terribly fussed about, but I'm wondering whether these post-purchase credit card charges are "business as usual" for AB. I've never experienced such a thing before, and wonder how/when this business practise developed, and whether everyone but me finds it quite "normal".
TIA!
