I've taken two laptops with me in my carry-on many times with no problem. I don't think monitors will be an issue at security, but there might an issue because of the size. Have you thought about shipping the monitors FedEx ground or UPS? I'd hate to have to gate check them at the last minute, and you never know when that might happen.
