My wife and two other instructors are taking 18 college students for a week in New York and I am tagging along. We'll be staying in the upper west side and she'd like to buy the group's Metrocards the evening we arrive. The question is, can the vending machines in the subway stations handle purchases of multiple Metrocards or are we going to have to do 22 transactions? We're concerned the credit card will start getting declined! I know I can buy multiple tickets here in LA on one transaction, but that is 2 people, not 22.
Maybe notify that credit card bank that you'll be doing multiple MTA transactions so that perhaps the card won't get blocked?
I love that you're getting everyone 7 day unlimited metrocards. What a great convenience and they'll have a blast with getting where ever they need to go with the swipe of the card.
